Dedicated hosting service

A dedicated hosting service, or a dedicated server, is when you don’t have to share a server with anyone else, as you are provided with your own hosting server.

This means that the risk of virus attacks is reduced, along with the chances of your web site performance being affected. Website performance is usually affected if you use a shared web hosting service, due to the chance of high traffic websites that share your server’s bandwidth.

A dedicated hosting service is much more flexible than shared hosting, as a business is able to have full control over the server. The web hosting company usually provides server administration as an add-on service.

There are two types of dedicated server hosting. The first is managed dedicated servers, which means that the ISP is responsible for maintenance, backup and running of the server.

The second type of dedicated server hosting is unmanaged dedicated servers, which means that you are in charge of all monitoring, maintenance and backup.
